Hon. Dogara Sponsors Inter-school Challenge, Urges Students To Study With Seriousness

Hon Aliyu Dogara Muhammad, member representing Wamba constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has sponsored Inter-school challenge (competition) for Secondary Schools in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Dogara-Muhammad (APC) stated this on Thursday in Wamba at the opening ceremony of Inter-school challenge competition on Quiz and Spelling bee for Secondary Schools of the area.

It has been reported that the competition has been organized in conjunction with Wamba Advocacy for Sustainable Achievements ( WASA).

Dogara- Muhammad said that the importance of education to the societal development can not be overemphasised, hence the need for the sponsorship.

"I have decided to sponsor this programme because of my great love and passion for education.

"Knowing fully well that education is the catalyst for meaningful development and self actualization.

"This exercise is targeted at improving the fallen standard of education in our constituency  and to encourage the younger generation on the need to face their studies with all seriousness.

" As education is the only panacea for meaningful development", he said.

Dogara further said that he intended to make the programme an annual event while urging other well meaning Nigerians to partner with the government by investing in Education.

The lawmaker assured of his continued readiness and willingness to partner with any organization with convincing ideas of improving on the standard of Education in his constituency and the state at large.

Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the state legislature, who chaired the occasion lauded his colleague for initiating this beautiful idea (competition) by adding values to our upcoming ones in the state.

Balarabe, who ably represented by Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Alkali, member representing Lafia North constituency urged the students to read hard in order to excel in their academic pursue.

"Hon. Dogara is one of the lawmaker that I am proud of due to his contributions at the floor of the House and his achievements in the last seven months.

"Whoever invested in Education has invested in everything considering the importance of education to the development of the society", he said.

The speaker reiterated the assembly's continued commitment to pass resolutions and make laws that will have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.

Earlier, Mr Godwin Boyi, the WASA President said that they have decided to organized the event to motivate learners across the  secondary schools of the Constituency.

He lamented on how some secondary schools in the Constituency lacks Mathematics, English Language and Science teachers while calling on relevant authorities to address it.

It has been reported that Hon. Dogo Shammah, the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon Abubakar Abbas, the Chairman of Wamba Local Government Council, representatives of the National Assembly members were among other dignitaries that attended the occasion.

It has also been reported that the competition started between An'nur Islamic Secondary School, Wamba and Government Girls College, Wamba where An'nur Islamic  Secondary School, Wamba defeated Government Girls College,Wamba with 30.5 against 24 points.
