Kingdom of the Netherland Indicates Interest in Building Economic Ties with the Nasarawa--Dutch Ambassador to Nigeria


The Ambassador of the kingdom of the Netherlands in Nigeria Harry Van Dijk disclosed that his country will study carefully Nasarawa state Economic development Strategy NEDS' document with the view of building Economic ties with the Government of Engineer Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state.

Mr Van stated this during a courtesy call by Senior Special Assistant to Gov Abdullahi Sule on Liaison office Abuja at the Dutch Embassy, off constitution Avenue, central Area of Abuja on Thursday.

The Netherlands Ambassador opined that before now the Dutch government has no particular program with the states except the federal government of Nigeria however, he was quick to add that with the visit of the SSA Hon Yusuf Maianguwa he will send the NEDS document to the Netherlands Consular general in Lagos to see and plan on how to visit Gov. Abdullahi Sule in his office for economic ties especially on Agriculture considering the fact that Nasarawa state and the kingdom of the Netherlands have commonalities being one of the biggest exporters of Agricultural products in Europe.

Mr Van aknowledged that this is the first time he received a delegation from a state in Nigeria stressing that the Dutch government will remain indebted and reciprocate such honour by building Economic ties with the Government of Nasarawa state.

Presenting the NEDS document to the Dutch Ambassador on behalf of Nasarawa state Governor the senior special Assistant to the Gov on Abuja Liaison office Hon Yusuf Maianguwa said the initiative is parts of the Gov commitment to project the good image of the state to the world .

He appealed to the Netherlands Ambassador to study the document to see where he can assist Nasarawa state economic development initiative.

Hon. Yusuf further informed his host that Nasarawa state is endowed with Agricultural potentials waiting for investors to explore and appreciated the Ambassador for welcoming him as well as anticipating his visit to Gov Abdullahi Sule sometime soon for bilateral talks.

The SSA was accompanied by a group of private investors base in Abuja and the head of Protocol and Administration to Nasarawa Liaison office Abuja, Abdulhamid Musa Tanko.
