Nasarawa Gov't to convert abandoned sports academy in Akwanga to coronavirus isolation centre

Nasarawa state government has converted its sports academy in Akwango to an isolation centre for Covid-19. The Nasarawa Sports Academy, Akwanga was established on 13th October 2005 to train young athletes in 13 different games, but later abandoned.

Governor Abdullahi Sule alongside his aides visited the academy as other stadiums around the country are being converted into holding centres in the event that spaces may be needed to hold possible patients of Covid-19. “I believe that as other stadia nationwide and selected spacious complexes are being adapted by government to serve as “Isolation Centers” for victims of COVID 19,” he said, wearing a black face mask.

"The Nasarawa State Sports Academy can be revived to its original status.”
